Scholarships for International students

Major scholarships for international students are as follows.

For international students who need financial support to meet living expenses, scholarship selections are done based on the results of their academic achievement, financial situation and other conditions.

Application is to be made through the Office of Education and Student Support.

(1) Yamaguchi University Scholarships
Yamaguchi University YUTAKA International students Scholarships

Period of application

 December to January
Qualifications Students of Yamaguchi university, Special/Credited Auditor students do not qualify.
Monthly stipend Scholarship A 50,000 yen
※Applicants from Mongol, Inner Mongolia(China) and Indonesia are given priority.
Scholarship B 20,000 yen
Duration Scholarship A 1 year
Scholarship B 10 months
(2) Scholarships offered by the government: Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
Government-sponsored International students （Domestic Selection）
Graduate students Period of application Around September（scholarship payment starts in April the following year）
Qualifications

Students expected to enter the graduate school.
Students enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program.
Monthly stipend 160,000 yen
Duration Until the completion of course
(3) Other Scholarships offered by Private Foundations
Honor Scholarship （Japan Student Service Organization）
Period of application April
Qualifications ・Privately financed International students enrolled in graduate school.
・Research students who hold at least a bachelor’s degree and are enrolled in a graduate course at the university in order to conduct research activities.
Monthly stipend 70,000 yen
Duration 1year
The Korean Scholarship Foundation
Period of application March
Qualifications South Korean and North Korean students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school.
Monthly stipend Master’s 40,000 yen

Doctor

 50,000 yen

Qualifications

Qualifications vary depending on applicant’s nationality and area. Given below are some general qualifications,

・Undergraduates expected to enter 3rd or 4th year
・Students expected to enter a Master’s program
・Graduates expected to enter 2nd or 3rd year of a Doctoral program

・Students expected to enter a Doctoral program in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary  medicine
Monthly stipend 140,000 yen
Duration Up to 2 years
Heiwa Nakajima Foundation International student scholarship
Period of application September
Qualifications Students already enrolled in or intend to enroll for a degree course, who also have the college student status visa.
Monthly stipend 120,000 yen
Duration 2 years (maximum)
The Asian Foundation for International Scholarship Kawaguchi Shizu Memorial scholarship

Qualifications

  2. Students should be Asians.
    Students already enrolled or intend to enroll in graduate or undergraduate school

    ※Age limitation
    Graduate: Under 35 years of age at the time of submitting the application

    Undergraduate: Under 30 years of age at the time of submitting the application
Monthly stipend 70,000 yen

Kyoritsu International Foundation Scholarship
Period of application November
Qualifications ・Privately financed student belonging to Asian countries
・Applicants enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school（no age limitation）,with a 2-year term of registration from April, 2010 onwards.
Monthly stipend 100,000 yen
Duration 2 years (as a general rule)
Sato International Scholarship Foundation
Period of application December
Qualifications

Privately financed students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school
who belong to one of the following countries listed below.

 

Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, East Timor, Vietnam.
Monthly stipend 180,000 yen
Duration 2 years
